It feels like only 5 minutes since the prospect of running 5k, never mind raising £5000, seemed nigh on impossible but with the help of Team Hibbsy and the support of Cannock folk, yesterday saw the total fundraising for the marathon fund hit a whopping £5000.
The usual gang, now joined by my cousin Shell Smith, who has recently been diagnosed with sjogren’s a disease associated with Lupus, and her daughter, Jessica, joined in the fun as we spread the word about lupus and raffled an array of chocolate treats. 1st prize was a Chocolate Bunny worth £50 courtesy of Thornton’s of Cannock. In total there were 16 prizes all of which offered something tasty for Easter. In the tradition of Team Hibbsy, Nan & Bill dressed up as Easter bunnies and distributed bunches of daffodils to shoppers courtesy of Cannock Shopping Centre who continue to support our work.
On Saturday morning, Kate & I completed another 10 miler running from Hednseford to Rugeley and back – a pleasing achievement after such a hectic couple of weeks of fundraising. No one mentions the duplicitous task that getting involved in a marathon feat is – but it’s well worth it!!
